Applicants must meet the Membership Guidelines to qualify for membership.

2010 rates (prorated quarterly per join date)


Active Members

Only Active members are eligible to vote and hold office in the Association. Unless officially excused by the Board of Directors, any Active member who does not attend an annual meeting of the Association for three consecutive years shall upon a majority vote of the Board of Directors be dropped from membership.

Annual fees:  
Active Member (within the U.S./Canada) $475
  Includes print and online access to the THYROID Journal  
  Outside the U.S./Canada (add for postage)  

Corresponding Members

A Corresponding member is one who, in the opinion of the Membership Panel and the Board of Directors, is qualified for Active membership but cannot meet its obligations because of geographic location. A Corresponding member must be an active member of his or her geographically respective thyroid association.

An Active member who because of a change in geographic location is no longer able to meet the obligations of Active membership can, upon application to and approval by the Board of Directors , be transferred to Corresponding membership. A Corresponding member who because of a change in geographic location becomes able to meet the obligations of Active membership shall, upon vote of the Board of Directors, become an Active member with all the privileges and obligations thereof.

Corresponding Member A: $310

Corresponding Member B: $125
  Includes online access to the THYROID Journal  

Senior Members

A member may apply for Senior membership after being an Active member for at least 20 years, reaching age 65, or becoming unable to meet the obligations of Active membership. Senior membership is conferred by the Board of Directors. A Corresponding member may be accorded the privilege of Senior membership through the same application process. Upon written request to and majority approval by the Board of Directors, Active members may transfer to Senior membership. Senior members are not required to attend meetings. They may not vote or hold office.

Associate Members

Applicants who are in postgraduate clinical or basic fellowship training are eligible for Associate membership for up to five years. Candidates should complete the online application form and submit a letter of recommendation from their program director. Associate members are not eligible to vote or hold office. Associate members may apply for Active or Corresponding membership during their last year of postgraduate training or at any time thereafter.

Annual fees:  
Associate (Fellows) Member: Complimentary with proof of Fellowship Program participation (online access to THYROID and to the ATA Fellows' Corner)
